I dropped my creamer. It was inherited from my grandmother. It was hand-painted. It did not bounce. When I saw the shards, I ruefully thought, “Well, I sure can’t take it to heaven now, and figured there was a lesson in there somewhere (besides the obvious one of being more careful when you tug on a box of breakables).
Our future inheritance of eternal life is a living hope. Is Christ alive? Yes! Is His Word alive? Yes! Then we have assurance in Him. Thankfully, it is not left with us—it is kept safely in heaven. It will not be destroyed. It will not rot. It will not fade. It will not be dropped by bumbling fingers.
Live in that hope.
1Peter 1:3-5
“Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, which according to His abundant mercy hath begotten us again unto a lively hope by the resurrection of Jesus Christ from the dead, To an inheritance incorruptible, and undefiled, and that fadeth not away, reserved in heaven for you who are kept by the power of God through faith unto salvation ready to be revealed in the last time.”
