Romans 8:28- And we know that all things work together to get what I want, to them that love God, to them who are the called according to my purpose.

“Um…excuse me, but that’s not quite how the verse goes.”

“It’s not? But…but…Bring me my smelling salts, I’m falling into a faint…”

We know what the verse says, but we kind of don’t know (or don’t want to know), if you know what I mean. Sometimes we just need be reminded, and to chew on it a little more (not like chocolate, which goes down quickly, but like steak, which you should be chewing more slowly, and getting every red cent out of it).

Do you ever feel like the Lord is picking on you? If you’re His child, He will never do anything to intentionally hurt you. Rather, His goal is that you become like Him. So…how does He take an imperfect thing and change it into His likeness? With a lot of work (for some of us more that others), which is not always pleasant—but very necessary-- for us. Everything in our lives contributes to that end, whether we enjoy the trip, or not.

So, if I’ve burst you bubble, I apologize. Just send me the bill for the smelling salts.
